Worst Case Scenerio

I have this thing where I run worst case scenerios in my mind.
Bus crashing, getting lost, losing something.. So it's not suprise that I have a back up plan to a traveler's (fashionable ones that is) worst nightmare. What nightmare? Losing ones things of course! Well actually it's the flight companies fault but, you get it right?
I travel in my jeans (preferably blue ones, or grey- they work with everything) white tank or shirt, a cardigan of some sort, black sweatshirt, a pashmina (actually I board the plane with two one coloured and one black.) 2 bags ( one for the laptop and books etc.) and a handbag- which is huge and also has a purse inside it (by purse I mean my mum's vintage 80's gucci bag with retractable strap.) with a pair of sneakers on (and extra socks.) and a pair of cheap rubber flip flops in my bag. Yes, I am paranoid. Yes I do lug around far too much stuff- BUT! should I ever be without my shipped things, I should survive, providng there is an american apparel store near by.
Usually they get you you're stuff back in a couple of days and until then, you get along.
So, what would I buy? Whenever I buy anything I think "Will it work with what I've got in my closet?" with most things AA this isn't a question, and since I'm familiar with AA sizes this is good. No suprises!
As my mother says, you're abroad, no one knows you no chance of anyone knowing you're wearing the same clothes all the time.
The following are what I would pick up (along with some panties)

The T dress is black.
Wearable colour in every condition, goes with everything else and not currently residing in my closet. It can (with some spiffing up) be worn to a semi-nice dinner if you can buy nice shoes/sandals. It can also function as a shirt instead of a dress.

Cotton Spandex Legging in T-Green
You just can't run around in a pair of jeans forever. The colour is great, and it can be paired with any of the items I've picked, and suits my mid summer tan or mid winter pale.
Also these are just damn comfortable, and if you're like me and consider jogging/using the gym at your hotel (and I do. all that vacation eating makes me feel bad about not burning calories.) these suit the job perfectly.

Slim fit Poplin Short in Lead
If it's summer these are great, a neutral colour to go with everything. No uber short like some of AA's shorts but cute nonetheless. Not much more to say. Also good for gym time.

Hoodie in Forest
Well, there's a black one but everyone needs a dash of colour- I'm not that keen on doing black on black on more black looks. If it's too warm for hoodies, go for a cardigan they're lighter.

Reversible Poplin Vest in Lead/Black
It's reversible! Do I really need to say more?
I've been loving vests lately, they take any boring old t-shirt and oomph it up. In the Black/Lead combo you can wear it with the shirt (lead side up) or with anything white (black side up. I find the lead a bit pale for wearing over white, but it can be done as shown by AA. I'm actually getting this, not waiting for it to come to AA ordering it to mum's hotel when she's in California in 2 weeks time.)

U-neck Rib Tank in Silver
Good for a slight change from the white beater I travel in. Also the U neck is plain sexy.

The (famous) V neck T-Shirt in which ever colour you want (for me it's the colours shown above)
I love how this fits. I just love this shirt, I can live in it.Wait I already do.
So yes, if (knock on wood) my stuff gets lost while I travel this is what I'd do. Hopefully I won't need to.

To all those who wondered, I'm going to Japan on the 28 of July for ten days (6 in Kyoto and 4 in Tokyo) with my mother for some great fun and even better sushi. I will come back with pictures, I might be nice and post some on the go since I've become the desegnated laptop lugger (mum doesn't want hers with her because it's her workpalce's and insurence and stuff) I still have to wrap my mind around packing for 10 days in one small carry on trolly.
Can't wait for mum to go to Cali (so ordering stuff from AA to her. I won't do it to Israel because it's silly since there's an AA store near by.) maybe some shorts from JCrew? I love their shorts.
You're all wanting a Hipster post yes? Expect it soon, I need to go over cobrasnake pics.
Off to bed now.

Camera Ready!

So, it's camera time!
I'm a photography fiend, and while my own DSLR camera is great both in looks and preformance it can be a bit.... bulky and indiscreet. So I've been given a massive amount of money for my trip to Japan and am considering using some of it to buy an "Ultra Compact" P&S (Point and Shoot) camera. Why? These small cameras fit in the palm of your hand, in you jean pocket or in you clutch purse for a night out. You can take pictures of everything (for me it's graffiti, random people on the streets, my food at restaurants or anything that I find inspiring) These are light- but preform well. Now days they are also extremely stylish as well.
Here are my final picks, some are within budget others... less.

Sony Cybershot DSC-T10
This is a 7.2 Mega Pixel camera that is literally the size of your palm. It has a carl ziess lens, stabilaizing for clearer pictures when shooting in a tight spot, real imaging processor so you can edit on the go, internal memory and a clear (and big) screen. It's at about 1,800-2,000 NIS. Amazon lists it at a whopping 500 USD but it can be found for cheaper on the net. It also comes in 4 colours! So choose your stylish favourite from a light pink, silver (as shown), white or black- take your pick.

Fujifilm Finepix Z5fd
This cute 6.3 mega pixel camera is just that- cute. It's small and slim, with a x3 optical zoom. It comes in three colours: Wine Red (shown here), Brushed Silver and Chocolate Brown. It has a Face Detection feature to bring out faces in the crowd when you take your picture, an internal memory and a light up on operation logo of the sliding door. Amazon lists it at 178 USD- I haven't seen it on Israeli sites but if I look I guess I'll find it.

Samsung NV10
This is from the latest samsung cameras released. I saw this at the mall and did a double take. It's mega slim, and small with a big screen and a semi classic camera like design. With 10 Mega Pixels it's image quality is super. It's got a x3 optical zoom with shake reduction and a touch screen LCD. Amazon lists it at 210 USD and I've yet to check Israeli sights but I'm sure I can find it for less.

Casio Exilim EX-Z1050
With 10.1 Mega Pixel. With 3x Optical Zoom with Anti Shake for clearer shots.
Auto Tracking AF function keeps moving subjects in focus, maximum seven-shot-per-second high-speed continuous shooting
Stores images on SD memory cards with internal memory.
Comes in black, purple, pink, and I think silver. Listed at 235 usd on amazon but can be found for less (older versions have less mega pixels but same design but cost less by a lot.)

Leica DLux 3
This is my dream camera, actually any Leica camera is my dream. 10 Mega Pixel with 4x wide angle optical image stabilized zoom .It looks like the classic Leica with minor adjustments for digital life, big screen and a great lens. It comes in a silver version as well but I find that the silver takes away from the beauty of this camera- in black it looks a bit like a film camera and is discreet- no one will give you funny looks with this, tops you'll look like a photography student. It costs a pretty penny, 600 USD (which I don't have but really wish I did have.) I have yet to see it on any Israeli websites but gosh, if I had the money I'd but this over anything.

That was it, I think I'll save up some- so I can still have spending money for Japan and maybe buy the Sony or the Samsung in the Dutyfree in the airport.

The Good The Bad and The Big Bird

Some things I just cannot understand. For example Prada's latest collection.
The colour scheme? I liked.
The cuts? Eh, okay...
The Legwarmers? Horrific.
The big bird coat? Speechless.
I'm puzzeled at how, a good designer like- this is obvious if one looks back at past collections, and create something that is so blatantly ugly. It's not even so ugly it's beautiful. It's plain and simple U-G-L-Y. Who wants to look like big bird? I won't get started on the fact that a large part of this collection is in fuzzy/furry fabric. That alone makes me want to vomit. Colour block legwarmers do nothing for anyones legs! cuts people off wrong you see. Some peices are so old it's gross, yet somethings have a unique qaulity to them. Those skullcaps? no.no.no. Can't we just go back to the turbans? None of the bags caught my attention- I love bags like a fat kid loves cake (and I love cake as well- but let's not go into comparing oneself to a fat kid.) The shoes? passable- but we've seen these before in a different colour scheme, but really we've seen them all.The dipdyes are great. That crumpled black/green coat! wow.
The Good:

The Bad:

The Big Bird:

That was a little thing, cause I've got my histort A level like thing on Monday and won't be updating till after thursday (Design Basics A level thing then...). Wish me luck, and a sparkling cardigan! (or at the very least that coinpurse from AA)

Creatures of Comfort

Creatures of Comfort may be comfortable but our wallets are squirming with the thought.
Okay, so there was a request (Ehem B) for a post.
I got off my ass, not literally since typing while standing happens to be difficult while balancing my laptop in order to type, and wrote up a post.
About what? One of my favourite online stores. While I have never bought something from them- I'm far too poor and spending too much money in the local AA store when I have any in hand.
Creatures of Comfort is an LA based store that stocks various designers and among them APC, (God. APC!!). Our favourite street urchin turned internet it girl (for what really? drinking underaged and partying too much?) owns and probably shops there- if you don't understand who it it highlight this (cory kennedy idiot!).
Following are some peices currently online in the store's website.
In the chosen bunch are a blinged out cardigan, a striped tube dress, and 2 button up thing- a top and a dress add some lovely chunky sweaters (dress and cardigan) and you've got something to warm up with in the chilly california (air conditioned) air.

from top to bottom:
APC Blue and White Stripe Long Sleeve Shirt
Peter Jensen Sequined Cardigan
Crispin & Basilio White Tie Front Top
APC Dusty Pink Military Jacket
Jessica Ogden for Fred Perry Blue Summer Dress
Alexandre Herchcovitch Fold-over Stripped Tube dress
Jessica Ogden for Fred Perry Chunky Knit Sweater
Lifew/Bird Black Knited Sparkly Knitted T dress

For more go to the stores website:

I'm off to continue to fantasize about when I will have the cash to buy that sweater or the patience to attempt to make one myself.
